T2 EO Waveguide Test Strip (Cracked)

On this sample the aluminum does not seem to disrupted the waveguiding nature of the LiNbO3. See the picture below. The strangly shaped glow arround the edges are just the broken edges of the device.

This sample coupled light in much more easily than the last sample. I believe it was the double sided tape on the bottom of the sample providing a little room to settle. This should be our standard mounting with this device. In neither of these two samples so far (T1 or T2) have I seen a 90 degree bend in the light. There is light deflection but it appears to be coming out of the end of the waveguide and not from the top of the device. Neither sample have shown any sign of EO deflection.

In this sample when I applied ±1V the supply was putting out 1A of current. This suggests a 1 Ohm short but the multimeter read 620 Ohms between the high and the low supply. Either way something is wrong and needs to be identified.

Under the microscope the device has a strange brown region all around the EO fingers. You can see it in the odd smugged region in the picture below. It appears as if it has some form of conductive film over the whole device.
