Interestingly the aluminum disrupted the waveguiding nature of the LiNbO3. Look at the two pictures below. In the first you can see the waveguided light all the way accross the sample. In the second the light stops where is hits the Al.

These pictures don't capture intensity very well but they are good enough. Another interesting feature is the two strips we will not be testing pass waveguided light through their EO region while the “to be tested” region seems to block all of the waveguided light. This is the case whether or not the EO probes are attached.

Under the microscope the device looks like this. Notice the damage done to the lower resistor strip. I believe this strip no longer functions.
