GOAL: Design a low-profile, transparent, near-eye holographic display

OBJECTIVE: Vertical and horizontal deflection of light through acousto-optics and electro-optics respectively

  • Celestial: AO/EO deflection from the back side of the substrate
  • Terrestrial: AO/EO deflection from the bulk edge of the substrate
  • Telestial: Multichannel EO deflection from the edge of the waveguide

MILESONES and QUESTS:

  1. Truncated Mach-Zehnder Interferometer (x-cut lithium niobate)
  2. Truncated Mach-Zehnder Interferometer (z-cut lithium niobate)
    1. Q4 Refine diffusion process want really low loss in z-cut substrates
      • method looking loss from photograph top streak
      • literature for SPDE low-loss proton exchange
      • m1 find d param new melt
      • make z-cut strips
      • moving variable temperature
      • moving varialbe is dilution –>losses in db/cm 5×5 grid (cel) Ter/tel–> (pictures from light inside)
  3. Q7 EO deflection paper

INTERNAL TIMELINE:

  • x-cut TMZI: 5/8/20
  • z-cut TMZI: 6/19/20
  • EO paper: 7/1/20

TEAM: Mitch (Q4 Refine PE) (Q5 thin)

Caitlin (Q7 Paper)

Other (Q1 x-cut def measure, FAB 7, Dylan?) Other (Q2 fiber setup, out of group) Other (Q3 fiber coupling, out of group)
