ECEn Shop

There are so many awesome parts and tools in the ECEn shop.

Take a day to go through every shelf, drawer, and cabinet to get an idea of what's available there. You'll be able to imagine so much more of what you can do if you do this.

The shop is staffed by Joseph Bussio (801-422-5350, bussio@ee.byu.edu), Don Dawson (801-422-6579, dawson@ee.byu.edu), and a number of student employees.

The shop is located in CB 416, 416A, 416B, 420, 420A, and 420B:

Purchasing

There are two registers that are used when making purchases: a “Micros” Point-of-Sale (PoS) register and a desktop with the ECEn webpage.

The PoS register (on the left, pictured below) is for personal purchases.

The desktop register (on the right, pictured below) is for research group purchases.

Research Group Purchases

The initial screen is pictured below:

If you're not in the system, ask Joe or Don to enter you into it (name, student ID, etc…) so you can make research group purchases.

Once you're added to the system, enter your name in the “Get Customer Info” text box, and hit enter or click the “Get Customer Info” button. Enter “holography” in the “Quick Purchase” text box.

Look for your items by clicking on the “Add Items” button under “Purchases”. If you find the item you want to purchase in the shop database (try out different key words and double check to make sure the price seems reasonable), click “Purchase”.

If you can't find them there, as a shop staff member to help you look for it in their database. If they can't find it in their database, look for the item's approximate price online (eBay, Amazon, Digikey, Mouser, etc…), click on “Misc. Purchase”, and enter the information in the window that pops up.

Once you're done adding items, edit the quantity fields to indicate how many units you're purchasing, review your purchase list, and click on “Checkout”.

If you want to cancel, click “Clear User/Cart”.

The research group “Balance” value isn't kept up to date, so you can ignore it.

Personal Purchases

Look for the item you want to buy in the button menus. If you can't find what you're trying to buy, ask for help. If they can't find it, use the “Misc” button and enter the value of the item as found online.

If you don't have your Student ID card, you can type in your Student ID number (not your NetID).
