you can then coat them in carbon by working through Mike Dorias in the geology department. rate is $10 a coating. dorais@byu.edu

The above findings are some current options for gratings as well as for a new particle.

Friday July 13 2018: Today I took a few pictures to display three trapped particles and two trapped particles for Dr Smalley's grant proposal. I am currently able to trap 2 particles for a few seconds easily, and my best is two for a duration of about a minute. 3 is only ever possible for 1-2 seconds so far I've been able to find with the current grating, trap, alignment etc. I should look into these factors to maximize and improve my setup.

Here are some things I'm noticing but need to confirm with the trap: - cleanliness / correctness of the grating will affect the trap quality (moving to differing parts of the grating showed differing abnormal patterns at a large distance from the focal point, displaying there must be either grime, or the grating is imperfect. It would be good to take a look at this under the microscope and look at a certain area, or just make a better grating/ gratings.
