Custom trap

Goal: Get a nice trap we can duplicate

Milestones

  • M1: Find a way to focus using chirping (Due May 22)
  • M2: Create a trap (Due June 5)
  • M3: Test the traps ()

Quests

  • Test Arb function on the frequency generator to see if it can chirp (Stephen) (Week 1)
  • (If the Arb function doesn’t work) Test arb function with frequency modulation to see if it can chirp (Stephen) (Week 2)
  • (If neither works) Come up with something that does work (Stephen) (Week 3)
  • Create software that produces the signal based on arbitrary point positions. (Stretch, also include circle as a primitive.) (Stephen) (Week 2-4)
  • Get something that produces a trap into the Rigol Arb waveform memory, and see if it traps (Stephen) (Week 3-5)

Test Tube Leia

Goal: Get a bunch of tests automated

Milestones

  • M1: Hold a design competition (Due May 21)
  • M2: Build a bunch of devices (Due May 28)
  • M3: Run tests (Due June 12)

  • Make a test tube design rubric (Stephen) (Week 1)
  • Create software that records the time, weather it grabbed a particle, and how long the particle held up to 2 min (Someone else) (Week 1-3)
  • Hold the competition (First iteration) (A bunch of people) (Week 1)

  • Manufacture 20 test tubes (Someone else) (Week 3)
